If you do have problems with reading any of your CDRs, don't immediately despair. You may be able to recover some or all of the files with software such as CD-R Diagnostic. You can download a demonstration version for free, but you will need to pay for a working version. I've used this to recover files from some of those disks I wrote before I realised the problems of packet writing.
CD-R Diagnostic is a program I've used for several years and it has recovered files from all of my problem CDR disks. In one or two cases it has only worked using the original drive on which the disks were written.
